Fun with cardboard

With Matt (now my boss, and original writer of the filtering software) travelling to our home office in Boston more frequently we've been lax on our usual tradition of "playing" with the desk of whoever is gone for more than a day or two. That is until this past week.

We got some new 4x8 whiteboards (nice!) for the office, and they were nice enough to ship them in boxes that were about 4x8. With 5 of them, there was plenty of cardboard to do some "creative construction" with them. Our office has ceilings that are somehwere between 8.5 and 9 feet tall--Perfect! We took a few of the boxes and made an "office" for our VP.

Not bad for about 30-45 minutes worth of labor, although I don't really know how we are going to top this one...

Any ideas out there for what to do next?

Jokes, Blogger, Gmail

So I decided to start a joke blog. It uses Blogger which is owned by Goooooooogle. I don't like their interface for blogging, but really, this is all a cheap ploy to try and get a gmail account to see what it is about.

SO ( I was ....) go ahead and look at it, and help me get a gmail account :)...

(Found this out via the kiddiez at /.)

Chicken

If I had a "link blog" this would go in it. Tell him to do stuff, and most of it he will do... pretty cool...

Whoop-dee-doo. I feel like going through there and demoting everything. I barely ever read the comments anymore, and I have my threshold set so that I don't see anything that is less than a 5.

I just love the "Concentrate on promoting more than demoting" line. Everything worthwhile has already been promoted...

Smithwick's

MMMMMmmmmmmm...

I had the chance last night to remember one of my favorite beers from my Ireland trip in 1998... Apparently Guinness parent Diageo recently purchased the Kilkenny brewery, which also happens to be the brewers of a fine Irish Ale called Smithwick's (pronounced smt ks). With Diageo being a global company, they are starting to bring Smithwick's to the US. It's only time before we start seeing that in the Chicago. I hope it's sooner rather than later.

(I hope this increases the jealous-o-meter for Kenny)

UPDATE: I just found out that the Irish poob in Arlington Heights has Smithwick's! I can almost crawl home from there...

Long live The Onion

Let me just say that The Onion rocks. Because of them I found out a new feature of Yahoo! that I never knew existed. It will help me answer all the tough problems that life has to offer...
