Deja Vu

I was just watching the Illinois-Minnesota Big1T1en tourney semifinal game and couldn't figure out why the Illini hadn't scored in awhile. It's a good thing Billy Packer helped me out. They weren't getting it to Pruitt in the middle.

Why is this Deja Vu?

I blogged about Billy Packer last year.

I LOVE Billy Packer.

A note to ESPN

Dear ESPN,

I don't like the feel good stories. I like seeing replays.

Love,
Ricky (Marc)

Chiefly Amazing

2007-chiefmaze_th.jpg
Since 2001 the Richardson Farm in Northern (near Antioch) Illinois has been doing corn mazes in their field. The notable ones are the celebration of the 100th anniversary of flight in 2003, the sox world series and the 20th anniversary of Superbowl XX (you know, the one the Bears won).

Recently they started a remote field, and this year's remote is Chief Illiniwek (pictured at the right). I may have to take a flight over it before it goes away....

Whoooo!

Dear MSU,

You were our first of hopefully many Big Ten wins in a long time (we haven't won in 24 Big1T1en games). Please don't feel bad.

Love,

Marc

The Joke's On Me

I was driving into work this morning, and one radio show was reporting that Illinois was disqualified from the tourney for accepting gifts (t-shirts, etc.) from non-allowed sources.

Another radio station was reporting that Dee Brown and Luther Head were sick with a fever.

I was trying to figure out what was going on when a third radio station wasn't reporting any problems with the team.

Then it hit me.

Stupid April Fool's Day.

To St. Louis and beyond?

First off, congrats to the Illini for making it to the Final Four! What a game last weekend, followed up by plenty of drinking and celebration.

The question I need to figure out now, is whether or not I want to try and make a pilgrimage to St. Louis in hopes of finding tickets. I'm discouraged by the high eBay prices for really crappy seats. I know that in years past, people have gone down and gotten decent tickets (for a decent price) outside of the arena before the game, but with the number of Illinois fans (due to the proximity to Champaign), I am concerned with my ability to get tickets. Perhaps I should just find a bar with a really big tv and run up a big bar tab--I bet it would still be cheaper than going down there and getting tickets...

I need to figure this out soon as Tedd and I were going to fly down (assuming the weather is decent)...

Time Shift

I'm glad I have a TiVo. Due to prior obligations, I won't be able to watch the game tomorrow night until I get home around 930.

Why am I telling you this? If any of you tries to call me before I have seen the game, I'm not going to answer.

I don't wanna know.

What can Brown do for you?

20-0.

That's really cool.

38-1.

That's pretty cool, too.

I was watching the game tonight and had a chuckle during the "UPS Halftime Report" when the ad said "What Can Brown do for you?" so I decided to play with photoshop.

What do you think?

Go Illini ... Don't Suck.

So I was watching the game this afternoon and was reminded of the reasons why we lost the games early on in the season that we did. We played absolutely terribly today. This was not the same team that has gone on a tear over the last two months--these guys were tired, confused, and downright lost.

If they hope to advance beyond Murray State, they better start playing like the team that beat Purdue and Iowa on the road instead of the team that lost to Purdue at home and Providence on the road. My absolute pipe dream final game would be Illinois beating Kansas by a landslide. Unfortunately I don't think either team is capable of making it to the Sweet 16, let alone the finals.

At least there is pleanty of basketball to be watched over the next few weeks... I think I am going to get the March Madness DirecTV package so that I can choose (in most circumstances) the games I want to watch--not rely on CBS's market madness.
