So Abbie took her first "official" steps on Monday. I say official, because she could take one, maybe two steps before then, but now she can travel from point A to point B on two appendages. See Flickr for a video of her taking a few steps. She's traveling further now, but I think we may need to wait until this weekend to get a proper video of it.
Yeah! We found the camera! It was in the side pocket of a bag that neither of us knew had a side pocket (somebody figure that one out). Any-who, I found a video that I had taken a month ago already on the card, so I put that up on Flickr. I've also got some pictures on my Mom's camera that I'll post shortly, and will, of course, start taking pix with my own camera now.
Abbie Update - she turned 10 months yesterday, but I don't think she noticed. Still no more teeth, but I did a double-take yesterday when she smiled - the faces of the 4 top teeth are protruding through the gums so much, I thought they were the actual teeth, but there is still a thin layer of gums stretched over all of them. She's getting really good at saying "dog." Much better, in fact, than saying Mommy or Daddy. Yesterday, I heard her squeal at Kahlua and then say "dog" as clear as a bell (but most times, she still drops the 'g' at the end).
Family Update - We are about to embark on some home improvements. The furnace and a/c need replacing, and we're FINALLY remodeling the kitchen! We are shooting to have both done by early May, so that we can then get going on the landscaping in front of the house. Fun, fun, fun! I'm sure that I'll be posting before and after pictures, as well as using this blog as a means of venting when I get annoyed with the whole process. Luckily, I've been carefully honing my Crock-Pot skills for use during the remodeling process. If anybody has some really good slow cooker recipies (that do not require use of a stove/oven at all), I'm looking to add more to my repertoire.
So we've pretty much exhausted our searching efforts - my camera is missing! And until we find it, no more pictures of Abbie! So for those of you who went on the ski trip with us a couple weeks ago, if you can do us a REALLY big favor and double-check any boxes or bags that weren't thoroughly unpacked, that would be incredibly helpful.
Update on Abbie: She's got 4 GIGANTIC big puffy bumps bulging out of her upper gums in her mouth right now. We had about a week of difficult nights, but it seems to have calmed down a bit now. So I don't know when these 4 teeth are coming in, but it looks like it's gonna happen all at once.
Abbie's "cruising" has gotten alot more confident, and she can easily go from sitting to standing without pulling up on anything now. Still no interest in walking. Her crawling has gotten extremely efficient, so I guess she doesn't see a need.
She has figured out how to climb, though. I was unloading the dishwasher the other day, and turned around to find her standing on the open dishwasher door! Now she tries to climb everything, even if it's much to tall for her (like the sofa). Luckily, she still has absolutely no interest in stairs.
I've missed a bunch of really great photo ops over the past few weeks. Hopefully we'll find the camera soon!
