Thursday was my first ever geek seminar. I went to the "unvailing presentation" of Microsoft's SQL 2005. It was a guy standing in front of everyone who knew less about the product than those in the audience who had looked at the Beta version.
Despite this disappointing presentation, however, I did learn a few things about geek gatherings, such as:
1 - The women always find each other and sit in a row towards the center, about 3/4 of the way back from the front.
2 - There is never a problem with all of the women fitting into a single row.
3 - There are still people out there who where thick glasses, pocket protectors and pants that hike up to mid-calf when seated (I swear, they looked like capris)
4 - Joking about a server being down is like yelling 'fire' in a crowded theater - you just don't do it.
